Allison Carol Schmocker
Allison Carol Schmocker (she/her) is a Chicago-based artist and writer who utilizes acrylic, papier-mâché́, and digital platforms in her work. As a self- described creator, she focuses on creating conversations with art, bringing to the forefront an open dialogue about gender/sexual identity, reproductive health access, and representation in medical illustration. Inspired by her own experiences, her current work focuses on reimagining the diagram, shifting focus from sterile male-centric bodies to showing female, queer, and disabled bodies. Originally from northern Wisconsin, Allison’s work throughout her life has spanned various mediums and concentrations, but always with the goal of capturing an accessible authentic human experience. Previous works have hung at the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Neville Public Museum. She is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago.
